What makes HUBStands different than other hub stands? ….. HUBStands brand stands are the core piece of a complete set up and alignment system. Not only will ProPLUS, Pro and Standard HUBStands eliminate the wheels and tires from your entire set up and alignment process; they are engineered so everything is aligned for measuring directly at the center of the hub not at the bottom of the tire.. We’ve created a full system of alignment components; pad levelers, scales, strings, camber gauges. All that work specifically with HUBStands so you can set heights, balance, caster, cambe and toe; all together and all at the center of the hub. HUBStands are made in the USA from 6061 aluminum and each set comes with multi-pattern interchangeable hub mounting plates.

What’s the difference between the three models of HUBStands?……. ProPLUS HUBStands were created for the heavy use and precision requirements of professional race teams, racers, shops and serious track junkies. ProPLUS HUBStands have omni-directional stainless steel roller ball bases and can be adjusted for exact wheel offsets, scrub radius and exact tire heights. ProPLUS HUBStands are the most versatile and precisely adjustable hub stands available. The Pro HUBStands brand of hub stands have a base with needle bearing steel wheels. They are adjustable in 0.1″ height increments and are more repeatably precise than our Standard version. Standard HUBStands have a fixed base with a proprietary neoprene./nylon/PTFT center section that moves in suspension compliance. They are designed for the DIY home enthusiast.

How much time will HUBStands save me? .…. On ProPLUS, pro and Standard HUBStands, it can take as little as 25 minutes to completely corner balance a car. Our customers tell us that when they do everything at once, with the wheels off and out of the way i.e height, balance, caster, camber and toe at the hub on our hub stands, it typically can all be measured and set in around an hour or two. Pro and serious amateur racers and teams will put their cars up on HUBStands between sessions to check and adjust set ups.

What is the sequence of steps to set up a car? …. First, keep in mind that every change in one setting can affect the other settings. Before you measure or set anything, make sure the car is perfectly leveled. Typically the sequence is to set the Ride Height and then Corner Balance the car. Next set the Caster, then the Camber and Toe; then check the thrust. Next re-measure the ride height and corner balance and if you change the height/balance at all go back and check the Camber and Toe. It’s a lot of steps to get it all exact, but it’s a whole lot easier and more precise on HUBStands brand hub stands when you don’t have to keep jacking the car and taking the wheels off and on, over and over, again and again.

Measuring Camber… When you measure camber on HUBStands, you should keep your gauge straight and on the centerline of the hub. The BG Racing digital camber gauges we have are a matched Left and Right pair and magnetically attach to the HUBStands on the hub centerline. They provide an extremely accurate (+- 0.02 deg.) measurement of the camber at the hub.

Hub Camber or Tire Camber?… There can be a difference between the camber measured on HUBStands at the hub and measured at the tires because tires are not machined, not metal parts with very tight tolerances and not particularly round or true. And tires vary from tire to tire, with use, with heat, with pressure. Set your camber directly at the hubs on HUBStands and when the  wheels are back on and the car is still level, set your tires at “race pressure” measure and record the camber so you can have a quick reference in the pits. Tires are rubber everchanging squishy things, hubs are machined parts. If the camber measured at the hubs is changing, there could be an issue in the suspension.

How do I measure Toe with HUBStands? …….HUBStands come with stainless steel Toe Sticks that pin fit into holes on the face of the HUBStands, keeping them centered on the the hub when “stringing” your car. The Toe Sticks can also be placed on the HUBStands base, exactly parallel to the hub face and used as a reference to measure across the car for total toe.

What is the difference between Toe measured in “inches” vs. measured in “minutes”? “Minutes” are a measure of angle. 1 minute is 1/60 of a degree. Toe measured in minutes indicates the exact angle the hub is pointed relative to straight. Toe measured in inches, or millimeters, indicates how far the front or rear of the tire is away from straight but is specific to a tire’s diameter. 1/8 inch of front toe on a 26″ diameter tire is 16 minutes of actual Toe. 1/8″ measured on a set of typical Toe Plates (23″) is really 19 minutes of Toe. Do not use someone else’s toe measurements unless they have the exact same diameter tire as you. Manufacturers and race teams use “minutes” because they are not tire size, shape or condition dependent.

Will HUBStands brand hub stands fit my car? …….Yes. We have available fits for most car makes and most 4, 5 and 6 bolt hub patterns, including center nut hubs. All of the Hub Plates have multiple bolt patterns on them so one set of HUBStands brand hub stands can be used on more than one make car. Check with us to see what patterns and combinations are available including for cars with center lock hubs.

Will HUBStands fit on my scales? …………. All HUBStands brand hub stands have a base that will easily fit on typical 15″x15″ sale pads.  Pro and ProPLUS HUBStands with their roller ball or wheeled base come with Acrylic/COmposite safety plates that protect the scale pad surface and insure the HUBStands brand hub stands stay on the scale pads.

Do I need turn plates? ……………………………..No. HUBStands brand hub stands can be turned through a measurable arc to calculate caster. They can lean through over 6 degrees of camber as well.

How tall are HUBStands? ………….HUBStands brand hub stands are individually height adjustable and are designed to give you additional working space under the car while keeping the car’s chassis in its correct angle of attack.
